Whenever I've seen a pub band do it, 95% of the time they murder it. It's too fast, too straight, no dynamics... Thanks so much for sharing your transcriptions. I stumbled upon you at basschat, liked what I read, saw “Forget You” which I like as a song and wondered about the bass. Came here and found “Dock of the Bay” too, which though simple I wanted to learn note for note. In measure 5 of the tag, there should be a natural sign in front of the C#. What about a “classic” like Easy To Be Hard by 3 Dog Night??? Beautiful bass line – w/o it, the song would flop.

But yes..if you can't make this work as a unit...you may as well give up... To put it bluntly, as it is all in the ears of the whole band and this is not an advanced song to try and get to grips with. Which many semi pro drummers have not a hope in hell of getting to grips with in terms of feel etc etc ..

You might have guessed that I hate bands that don't put any of themselves into a song! Sorry I don't TAB and this may not make much sense to you. It's an easy song to play, but a hard song to play well - not just the bass, but the whole band too.

I loved playing this with my other band but hate it with my main band. Its like we are all playing a different rhythm. Thank you very much for providing the bass transcriptions that have certainly helped me a great deal in my bass education..Please keep up the good work sir.
Less means it has a chance to breathe and not clash. The only place you want a frill is the second half of bar 2..but should not clash with the gtr. These transcriptions have all been done for gigs/personal research or requests from private students.

Wouldn't bother with listening to it, personally..it is a 3 chord groove which you should really..as a band..be able to make it worth listening to. There is a lot more to it than that, I've worked out a few of the trickier bits, but would like to play them all. These charts are a great resource for learning to sight read! Although I think that there is a mistake in “Mamma Mia”.
Most are note-for-note transcriptions of bass parts, some are chord charts and others are a combination of the two. Work on the feel and try hard to get it right and you'll play it better than many other bands. Very true, easy to understand musically, but nailing the feel is not easy in this one. Have played it with many excellent pro musicians and rarely have we managed to recreate the groove of the original. If in doubt, leave it out..less is more, and just accent the chords, as many bands will over play a simple progression.
